Australian Shares
Australian shares themselves are largely the same as those traded around the world. Basically, a share gives you part ownership of a business, and your investment in that business changes in value depending on the company's performance. Shares can also pay dividends if the company decides to pay out some of its profits. A stockbroker and some investment capital are all that is needed to purchase shares on the Australian share market.
Over 2000 companies offer shares on the Australian Securities Exchange (ASX), and the benchmark market indicator is the S&P/ASX 200. It takes time to understand the benefits, risks and inner workings of share trading, but since stock markets have traditionally delivered better returns than all other investments, it is worth knowing about Australian shares.
